Attaching Receipts to Expenses

Attach photos or files to any expense for easy record-keeping and client documentation

Keeping receipts organized is one of those things that saves you hours at tax time or when a client asks for backup documentation. Instead of filing paper receipts or digging through email, attach them directly to the expense entry so everything stays in one place.

On the Web

  1. Open the expense entry (or create a new one from the Expense page).
  2. Expand the expense row by clicking the + icon.
  3. Click the Attachment field.
  4. Select a file from your computer — images (JPG, PNG), PDFs, and other common document formats are supported.
  5. The file uploads and attaches to the expense entry.

On Mobile

The mobile app supports photo receipt capture directly from your camera. When entering an expense:

  1. Tap the camera icon on the expense form.
  2. Take a photo of the receipt.
  3. The image is automatically attached to the expense entry and synced to the web version.

This is the fastest way to capture receipts — take the photo right after the purchase while you still have the receipt in hand.

Tips

  • Attached receipts are included when you export expense data, so they're available for audits and tax preparation.
  • If a receipt is hard to read in the photo, re-take it with better lighting. A blurry receipt isn't helpful during an audit.
  • For emailed receipts (e.g., airline confirmations, software subscriptions), save the email as a PDF and attach it to the expense entry on the web.
