Connecting Xero to TimeTracker
Sync time entries, invoices, and contacts between TimeTracker and your Xero account
If your firm uses Xero for accounting, this integration keeps your time data and financial records in sync. Time entries, invoices, and contacts flow between TimeTracker and Xero, reducing manual data entry and reconciliation work.
What Syncs
- Contacts — Client records sync between TimeTracker and Xero so you don't need to maintain them in both systems.
- Invoices — Invoices created in TimeTracker can be pushed to Xero, where they appear as sales invoices.
- Payments — Payments recorded in either system can sync to the other.
Setting Up
- Go to More > Integrations > Xero.
- Click Connect and sign in to your Xero account.
- Authorize TimeTracker to access your Xero organization.
- Map fields — match TimeTracker clients to Xero contacts, and configure which account codes to use for invoices.
- Set sync preferences — choose whether to sync invoices automatically when finalized, or manually on demand.
- Click Save.
Using the Integration
After setup, finalized invoices in TimeTracker can be pushed to Xero with one click (or automatically, depending on your settings). The invoice appears in Xero with the correct line items, amounts, and client information.
When a client pays and you record the payment in TimeTracker, it syncs to Xero so your books stay current.
Tips
- Make sure your Xero chart of accounts is set up before connecting — TimeTracker needs valid account codes to map invoices correctly.
- If contacts exist in both systems with slightly different names, the integration may create duplicates. Clean up contact records in one system before connecting.
- If a sync fails, check More > Integrations > Xero > Sync Log for error details.
