DCAA Compliance Settings

Turn on full audit logging to meet government contract requirements

DCAA (Defense Contract Audit Agency) compliance mode enables a full audit trail for time entries. When turned on, every edit made to a time entry is tracked — recording who made the change and when — providing the transparency required for government contractor audits.

What DCAA Mode Does

DCAA compliance mode adds audit logging to time entries. Specifically:

  • Every change to a time entry is logged — including who made the edit, what was changed, and the exact date and time.
  • The original values are preserved alongside the new values, creating a complete change history.
  • Users can still edit their time entries normally — DCAA mode does not restrict editing or lock entries. It simply ensures that all changes are recorded.
  • Admins can review the audit trail at any time to see the complete history of changes to any entry.

Enabling DCAA Mode

  1. Go to Admin > Settings > Time Tracking.
  2. Find the DCAA Compliance setting.
  3. Toggle DCAA Compliance to On.
  4. Click Save.

The audit trail begins immediately for all time entry edits going forward.

Who Needs This

DCAA compliance mode is designed for government contractors who may be subject to DCAA audits. These audits review whether labor charges to government contracts are accurate and properly documented. The audit trail provides the evidence that your time records are reliable and that any corrections are transparent.

For comprehensive compliance, consider pairing DCAA mode with:

  • Time Entry Approvals — Adds a manager review step before entries become billable.
  • Time Period Locking — Prevents changes to finalized periods after payroll or billing.
  • Required fields — Enforce descriptions and activity codes on all entries.
Important: DCAA mode adds audit logging transparency but does not change how employees enter or edit time. It is an audit trail feature, not a restriction or locking mechanism.
