Mobile: GPS Tracking

How location tracking works when you clock in and out on mobile

If your admin has enabled GPS tracking, the app records your location when you start and stop a timer or clock in and out. Look for the GPS pin icon in the top-right corner of the New Time Entry screen — if it is visible, GPS tracking is active.

How It Works

  • When you start a timer or clock in, the app captures your GPS coordinates.
  • When you stop the timer or clock out, it captures your coordinates again.
  • Your admin can view these locations in the GPS Report on the web.
  • The On the Clock screen includes a "Tap to see Map for All users" link that shows the location of all currently clocked-in employees on a map.

For GPS tracking to work, you must grant the app location permission:

Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Time Tracker > set to "While Using the App" or "Always"

Android

Settings > Apps > Time Tracker > Permissions > Location > Allow

Note: If you are having trouble with GPS accuracy, step outside and away from tall buildings. Indoor locations, tunnels, and dense urban areas can degrade GPS accuracy.
