Using Screen Announcements

Display a login message to your whole team or specific groups

Need to get a message in front of your entire team? Screen Announcements display when users log in — a way to communicate policy reminders, deadline alerts, or company-wide updates that everyone needs to see.

Creating an Announcement

  1. Go to Admin > Settings > Screen Announcements.
  2. Click New Announcement.
  3. Enter the announcement title and message body.
  4. Set the display period — choose start and end dates for when the announcement should appear.
  5. Choose the audience — all users, specific user groups, or specific roles.
  6. Click Save.

How Users See It

When a user logs in during the display period, the announcement appears as a popup. They read it and dismiss it to continue. Each user sees the announcement once unless you configure it to repeat.

Good Uses for Announcements

  • Timesheet deadlines — "All timesheets for the pay period ending 7/15 must be submitted by EOD Friday."
  • Policy changes — "Starting August 1, all time entries require a project selection. Non-Project Related entries are being phased out."
  • System maintenance — "TimeTracker will be undergoing maintenance Saturday 10pm–2am. Please save your work before then."
  • Holiday schedules — "The office is closed Monday 9/1 for Labor Day. Log time off if you haven't already."

Tips

  • Keep announcements short and actionable — users will dismiss long messages without reading them.
  • Set an end date so old announcements don't keep showing up. If the announcement is no longer relevant, deactivate it.
